Overview of Responsibilities:  

The Assembly Manager is responsible for all aspects of U.S. based PED Assembly through direct management of the staff. This role includes the mechanical and electrical assembly of turnkey thin film deposition systems & components that meet quality, delivery and profit expectations. This position is also responsible for ensuring that the Assembly department evolve their methods, equipment and people to suit KJLC business needs. 

Key Job Elements: 

  • Foster & coach a team to align with business objectives, ensuring optimal staff proficiency and motivation, inclusive of overtime management 
  • Develop and maintain continuous improvement programs (i.e. Kaizen, 5-S, etc.) 
  • Establish annual department budgets and goals 
  • Establish project & job priorities 
  • Ensure all assembly related issues are documented and improvements are implemented 
  • Create & implement best practices for the assembly process 
  • Ensure all staff are trained to perform in a consistent and safe manner while delivering superior service 
  • Ensure all Assembly related equipment and tools are in proper working order 
  • Manage all aspects of the Clean & Assembly areas 

Qualifications: 

Required 

  • 10+ years related experience 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications 
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally; ability to drive and/or fly to customer locations 
  • Strong working knowledge of modern assembly planning, lean production and problem-solving methodology 
  • Strong management, organizational, team building and communication skills 
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and adapt to stressful and/or changing situations 
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, twist and lift up to and including 30 lbs. unassisted. Assistance must be used for any items over this weight. Assistance is always required for anything weighing over 60 lbs. 

Preferred 

  • 10+ years related experience or relevant coursework with a Bachelor’s degree, including leadership, project management or supervisor experience 
  • Strong technical skills in vacuum technology
