Summary:The
Laser and Cell Supervisor will utilize their expertise in
machining, welding, and
detailing, combined with strong interpersonal skills, to effectively supervise Machinists, Welders, Laser Technicians, and Clean & Detail Technicians. This role involves overseeing the setup and operation of equipment and tools, managing Quick Turn Cells and laser employees across all shifts, and ensuring safe, efficient operations that meet production requirements.
Responsibilities:- Lead by example, providing clear expectations, coaching, mentoring, and training, while managing administrative tasks
- Ensure timely, high-quality, and budget-compliant product delivery by driving output and efficiency
- Achieve operational and production goals
- Resolve operational issues and implement continuous improvements
- Analyze operations and innovate methods and equipment
- Address hold tags and root cause analysis promptly
- Operate department equipment as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized department (6S), ensure supplies and equipment are functional, and comply with company policies
- Develop and plan jobs
- Recommend and implement production improvements
- Measure and manage productivity and resource allocation
- Assess employee performance, provide feedback, and conduct reviews
- Implement corrective and disciplinary actions
- Collaborate with other departments to optimize production and processes
- Identify and implement coaching, training, and development programs
- Continuously improve safety, quality, productivity, cost, and employee relations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:Required- Associate degree or certificate in manufacturing from a Trade or Technical school
- 10+ years of fabrication experience
- Proven success in a leadership role, with the ability to build, coach, train, develop, and manage a team
- Extensive knowledge of dimensional inspection practices (GD&T, CMM, Hand Tools)
- Working knowledge of programming (G-Code, CAM software)
- Knowledge of 6S and program maintenance
- Quick problem-solving abilities
- Experience in Root Cause analysis and implementing effective Long-Term Corrective Actions
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to stressful or changing situations
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and basic computer skills
- Physical ability to bend, stoop, squat, twist, and lift up to 60 lbs unassisted; assistance required for items over 60 lbs
Preferred- Previous manufacturing experience in a related industry
- Skilled in applying continuous improvement practices
- Professional certification in laser technology or manufacturing processes
- Experience in project management and implementation of process improvement initiatives
- Experience with interviewing, hiring, and managing employees
- Experience executing employee reviews
