Machine Shop - Jefferson Hills, PA - Full Time

Role Summary:
As a Welder, you will be responsible for laying out, cutting, fitting, tacking, and welding a variety of metal assemblies using the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) process. This role requires precision and attention to detail, as you will ensure all fabrications meet exact drawing tolerances and complete in-process inspection reports to maintain quality standards. The components you will work on include spherical and cylindrical chambers, bell jars, service wells, nipples, tees, gas fittings, and adapters, all of which demand high-quality craftsmanship in a precision-driven environment.
  • Shift: First (Monday – Friday), 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Location: Jefferson Hills, PA
What we are looking for:
  • A passion for precision welding and a commitment to quality craftsmanship
  • Proven skill in the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) process
  • Enthusiasm for working on custom-built projects that require attention to detail and technical excellence
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform GTAW welding with correct tungsten selection, gas type/flow, and amperage settings
  • Produce vacuum-tight aluminum welds in flat, vertical, and overhead positions
  • Read and interpret moderately complex blueprints and weld symbols; report discrepancies
  • Accurately layout and secure assemblies using standard tools
  • Use measuring tools (calipers, rulers, feeler gauges, pi tapes) to verify tight tolerances
  • Operate plasma cutting torch for proper fitment
  • Weld chambers that consistently pass leak-check standards
  • Safely operate rotary positioners and complete data sheets with minimal assistance
  • Follow all company policies and safety procedures
Qualifications
Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 4–7 years of experience in GTAW welding
  • Strong math skills and ability to read mechanical drawings
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, twist, and lift up to 60 lbs unassisted
  • Qualified to operate a 5-ton crane
Preferred:
  • Certificate from a vocational/trade school or community college
  • Completion of an accredited welding apprenticeship program
