Job Summary: 

The Material Control Technician is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Machine Shop Material Control department. This includes ensuring production orders progress efficiently and on schedule through the Machine Shop, as well as collaborating with shop personnel (operators, supervisors, project managers, and purchasing) to address material and routing issues.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Physically inspect and receive inbound material, posting products into inventory both physically and in the computer system
  • Process material and coordinate proper put away, ensuring all material is labeled and stored in its designated bin location
  • Maintain and monitor stock levels
  • Process related paperwork (receiving discrepancy forms, packing lists, etc.)
  • Ensure good communication with other departments to facilitate smooth operations
  • Manage the Cycle Count System
  • Adhere to safety rules and maintain a high awareness of safety
  • Perform general warehouse duties, including picking and packing sales and production orders
  • Keep the warehouse organized
  • Support employees and other departments in resolving shipping and packaging issues
  • Follow departmental work instructions
  • Perform any other assigned tasks or projects

Qualifications: 

Required

  • High School education
  • Basic Computer Skills (i.e.: Outlook, Microsoft Office, etc…)
  • Ability to physically perform the job including: climbing, lifting, bending, kneeling, etc.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, twist and lift up to and including 30 lbs. unassisted. Assistance required over 60 lbs.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well within a team environment, and willingness to motivate and support others
  • Ability to perform within a changing workload and/or priorities and meet order schedules with quality results

Preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft products and ERP systems
  • Minimum of two (2) years of warehouse experience
  • Minimum one (1) year of related warehouse experience within the consistent areas of material handling, shipping and receiving, distribution, and/or operations
  • Good understanding of basic/fundamental warehouse shipping and receiving procedures
